Configure NTB for Proxy Server
A proxy is a server that all computers in most larger
Organisations go through to get web-pages from the Internet.
The Proxy server stores a copy of each page so that
the next person wanting the same page gets the copy,
reducing the Internet bandwidth. It also gives
the Organisation the opportunity to control inappropriate
Internet use.
Since the Internet traffic to an NTB is usually very light
(usually just text files from RSS feeds) and since the NTB
can't make inappropriate use of the Internet, it should not
need to go through the Proxy. Some Organisations, however,
will insist that it does. If so then proceed as follows:
-
Browse to the "Setup | HTTP Proxy | Add" page/tab.
-
Enter the Proxy server IP Address and port number
(Ask the System Administrator if unknown)
-
Some Proxy servers require all computers to log into them
before accessing the Internet. If this is the case then
enter the user name and password of the proxy.
-
If the user name and password are required then ask the
System Administrator if it is a Windows Proxy that requires
"NTLM Authentication". If so then the NTB does not support
this and you must ask the Administrator to configure the
proxy to allow the NTB to use either "Basic" or "Digest"
authentication.
-
Tick all the boxes and click the "Add" button.
-
Browse to the "Home | News Feeds" page.
-
Edit each external news feed, select "Use Proxy" and click
"Apply"
-
Browse to the "Setup | Player" page.
-
Select "Use Proxy" and click "Save".
