Notes
-
To update the NTB software, you need to download a file from this website, upload it onto your NTB and then reboot the NTB.
-
Before downloading the file, we ask you to register an e-mail address so we can keep you informed of new software releases.
-
You may need to do more than one update if your NTB is several versions behind the latest.
You must do the updates one-at-a-time and in the correct sequence.
-
The update files are large and can take several minutes to download, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
-
Your network may only allow the Administrator to download a ZIP file.
-
If the download does not complete then the update will fail.
-
Some firewalls will unpack the downloaded file to examine the contents and then put it back together again
but this makes the file corrupt and the update will fail.
Instructions
-
If the NTB will not update from V4.2.1 then:
click here to download a hotfix file
then update the NTB with it and try the original update file again.
-
Click here to find out about the latest software and to register an e-mail address.
(Opens in a separate window / tab.)
-
You should have received an e-mail, within fifteen minutes of registering the e-mail address,
giving you a link to the download page and the user name / password.
Find that e-mail, it was titled "Download the Latest ONELAN Net-Top-Box Software", and click on the link.
If you can't find the e-mail or if you suspect that you mis-typed the e-mail address then please register
the e-mail address again and wait fifteen minutes for a reply.
-
Ask your Network Administrator if you are permitted to download a ZIP file
and if it can be downloaded without being unpacked by the firewall.
If neither are possible and the Administrator cannot do it for you then contact your Dealer for a copy of the file on a CD.
-
Get the software update file onto your computer.
-
If you downloaded the file yourself then try to download it a second time.
When your browser asks you if you want to replace the file then click "No" only if both files are identical in size.
-
If the name of the file on your computer ends in ".tar" then change it to ".opf.
If the name ends in neither ".tar" nor ".opf" then open the "My Documents" folder,
click on "Tools | Folder Options.. | View", remove the tick from "Hide extensions for known file types.", click "OK"
and then check the file name again.
-
Click here if you are not familiar with how to FTP to an NTB.
-
FTP to the NTB and upload the update file into the "updates" folder.
-
Try uploading the updates file a second time.
When your browser asks you if you want to replace the file then click "No" only if both files are identical in size.
Repeat this step until the file sizes are identical.
-
Connect to the NTB from your web-browser.
-
If all you see in the browser is an Index of files then pull the power cable out of the NTB and put it back in again.
Do NOT do this under any other circumstances.
If you see the NTB Home page in the browser then go to "Setup | Software Updates" (or "Settings | Udate") page and
follow the instructions to reboot the NTB.
HIGHLY IMPORTANT: Do NOT cut the power to the NTB until the reboot and update are fully complete.
-
When the NTB has finished the reboot and update process, connect to it again with your web-browser.
-
Check the NTB software version, shown in the top left corner.
If the version number is the new version then this problem has been solved.
Problem Solved.
The Update Failed.
