Troubleshooter > A/V > Display Setting

Notes

  • The NTB shipped with an output resolution of 1024x768 because every Dispaly Device supports this resolution.
  • The Display Device that you are using is probably not 1024x768.
  • You need to match the NTB to output to the resolution of the Display Device.
  • You may also need to adjust the settings on the Display Device itself, usually the "Auto Adjust" feature does the trick.
  • If the media in a particular zone appears stretched or squashed then you need to resize that zone to fit the media.

Instructions

  1. Connect the NTB directly to the Display Device using a VGA cable.
You may need to disconnect any VGA over Cat5 distribution systems and move the NTB closer to the Display Device, this is just a temporary measure.
  2. Reboot the NTB.
  3. Browse to the "Setup | Screen" page on the NTB.
  4. You should see a list of output resolutions, some may show the name of the Display Device instead of "Built-in". The named resolutions were given to the NTB by the Display Device over the VGA cable, select one of them (you probably want the largest one).
  5. If there are no named resolutions then click on "Custom" and find out from the manual or manufacturer of the Display Device what numbers to enter into each of the available text boxes.
  6. If you do not have any custom settings then pick the "Built-in" resolution that you most want. You may have to find the best one by trial-and-error.
  7. Click "Save Changes" and wait for the NTB to reboot.
  8. When the NTB has finished booting up, use the remote control or menu buttons for the Display Device to make it auto adjust the image.
  9. Browse to the NTB and click on any zone, in the layout graphic, that may be showing media that appears stretched or squashed. This will take you to the playlist editor for that zone.
  10. For TV and video zones, click the "Edit Zone Properties" button and set "Aspect Ratio" to either "Use height.." or "Use width.." and to either "16x9" or "5x4" (depending on the media).
  11. For zones showing photographs, click the "Edit" button for each item in the playlist and make sure that "Image Properties | Mode" is "Letterbox" and not "Stretch".
  12. Reconnect the NTB to the Display Device as it was before step 1.
