User Accounts

Prior to creating Ad-Hoc objects, the Channel Administrator must create user accounts for each category of Ad-Hoc user. If, for example, the Channel Administrator has created a user named "Authority" for him/herself, but does not want to give this full-access username to the Ad-Hoc users then he/she must create new users with Ad-Hoc access on the publishing NTB.

Users are added to the system through the User Accounts Settings page, accessed through the home page of the NTB. Entries are made as follows:

  1. Enter a user name - this is the name that the user must type in at the log in prompt and it needs to be typed exactly as entered i.e. capital letters cannot be used where lower case letters are expected and vice-versa. Make a note of this name, it is important.
  2. Enter a full name. This has no significance at HQ and can be anything.
  3. Enter a password twice. NOTE: this password applies to the publisher ONLY and should not be disclosed to anyone else. Subscribing NTBs may well use different passwords.
  4. Tick the Ad-Hoc Access option ONLY.
  5. If this user requires control over an Ad-Hoc folder play then select the folder by name from the drop-down list. If this user does not require Ad-Hoc folder play then do not make any selection.
  6. Click the "Add" button to add this user to the system and enter the details into the list below.

image   Note:

  • Passwords should be at least 6 characters and contain letters and digits
  • Passwords should not be words that can be found in a dictionary.
  • Passwords are case sensitive

Enter this information into the Site Installer Checklist since these accounts need to be created on every subscribing NTB. The usernames must be identical but the passwords can differ from site to site provided someone on-site keeps a record of them.
