Layout Descriptions

image

The sample layouts each serve a different purpose. The following notes on each layout will explain when and how to use them.

ALL LAYOUTS

Most of the layouts have a "Main" zone that can show images, Flash,, video or live TV. In most cases the main zone is a folder play and shows the content of the folder: media/show>layout_name</main Simply upload new content into this folder, delete the old and the new content will appear on the screen in due course.

Many of the layouts will allow you to switch from showing stored content to live TV at the click of a button but this facility is only available if the "Advanced Ad-Hoc" licence has been purchased and installed on the NTB. The switch from stored content to TV, browse to the Ad-Hoc Page "TV Control", select "TV On" and a TV station and click "Save". It has been assumed that stored video will be in 4x3 format and that the TV signal is in 16x9 format so the zone size will change to suit the widescreen TV signal.

The same Ad-Hoc text item, named "Messages" appears on almost all layouts. If using more than one of the sample layouts you may wish to create a new Ad-Hoc text item for each one so as to avoid confusion. There is also no reason why you can't have more than one Ad-Hoc text message per layout - this could allow a number of different people to contribute to the system.

ACTIVE

This layout will simply show, full-screen, all recognised media types in the folder: media/show/active. This is useful for placing content onto the screen very quickly. Just upload videos, images, flash or text files into the folder, delete unwanted content and wait for the new content to appear on the screen.

AGENCY

This layout is intended to advertise complex products. There are two Agency layouts, one is more complex than the other. These layouts have one "master" zone and several "slave" zones. Any file that is uploaded into the master zone will appear on the screen in due course. When it does appear, a matching file will show in each of the slave zones if such a file exists. Files are matched by name so if a file named "house1.mpg" is shown in the master then a file named "house.jpg", "house.png", "house.gif", etc will appear in an image slave zone and the text inside a file named "house.txt"will appear in a text slave zone. Examine the contents of the sub-folders in folder: media/show/agency to get a better understanding. Then replace the existing content with your own.

AGENDA

This layout simply shows a table and a message. The wording of both can be changed by Ad-Hoc user "foyer" in page "Agenda". If you need more rows or columns in the table you will need to create a new one and replace the one shown in the playlist for the zone where it appears.

CLUB

This layout is intended to keep members informed. It can be modified to suit a number of applications. Note that the three images shown in the top right corner are part of the background image. The main zone shows images saved from a PowerPoint presentation but could show video or photos. There is a master-slave relationship between the text and image zones on the right hand side. The message and table can be editited from the Ad-Hoc page "Club". To change the weather city read the on-line user guide under "Content Types | Weather".

CORPORATE

These two layouts are designed to keep staff and/or visitors informed and to show off products. Note that Corporate2 has a zone containing a mask image to give the rounded edge effect to the zones beneath it.

EDUCATION

These three layouts are primarily aimed at schools. The main zone can be used to show photos, posters, art work, videos or live TV. Tables and the scrolling message can be edited in the Ad-Hoc page "Education". There are also two zones used for captioned images.

FOYER

These two layouts simply allow you to show live TV in your foyer and brand it with your logo. The second one can show a welcome message to visitors.

GALLERY

This layout is similar to the Agency layouts in what it does.

MENU

This layout allows the user "chef" to edit a three course menu. Note that the images on this layout are part of the background image.

MOVIE

The first movie layout is for video-on-demand. Use the Ad-Hoc page "Movie" to activate one of three movies or switch to live TV. Note that this requires the advanced Ad-Hoc licence.

The second movie layout will show two movies on an NTB3000 series. Note that the audio is mixed and that you could mute one or the other by editing the item in the playlist and setting the "Volume" property to zero.

MUSIC

This layout will play music (MP3, WAV, WMA, etc) jukebox style. Just upload the music files to the folder: media/show/music and they will play in random order. Delete files that you don't want to hear. If you upload a matching image file into the folder then it will show on the screen while the music plays. If you upload a matching text file then the contents of the file will show as well.

NEWS

This layout illustrates Ad-Hoc newsfeeds (requires the advanced Ad-Hoc licence) and the separation of headline and detail into two separate zones with a master-slave relationship. Please note that most news providers have a policy requiring you to give them some form of accreditation on the layout before you can use their feed.

OFFICE

The first of these two layouts is the default product showreel. The second is similar but has a widescreen video zone suitable for digital TV.

PORTRAIT

This layout illustrates the portrait mode feature of the NTB3000 series.

POWERPOINT

This layout illustrates a PowerPoint presentation that has been saved as a series of images and used in a folder-play. It is also possible to convert PowerPoint into flash. The idea here is to include live TV and an instant message with a presentation.

TV

This layout simply shows live TV fulscreen with the company logo in the top-right corner.
